Tidewater Staffing Inc (TSI) understands this is a challenging time and we are in uncharted waters. In accordance with  Ellen Lord, Under Secretary of Defense, and Christopher Krebs, Director of the Department of Homeland Security, members of the defense industry base, like Tidewater Staffing Inc, are considered critical infrastructures and are directed to remain open. Employees and subcontractors of companies supporting the national defense, supply chain, logistics, and manufacturing in support of these critical sectors have been designated as part of the Essential Critical Infrastructure Workforce. The important work TSI performs for our company and customers impacts the United States’ national security and the safety of United States citizens worldwide.

Offices Open and Hiring 

We are looking for individuals with Trade Skills for both Ship Repair and Ship Building such as Welders, Riggers, Electricians, Marine Painters, Pipefitters, Sheet Metal Mechanics, etc. For Manufacturing/Logistics we have positions for Forklift Drivers, Picker/Packers, Shipping Clerks and more. 

We are hiring at all five locations in Hampton Roads, including, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Virginia Beach, Suffolk and Newport News. Our offices are open Monday through Friday 7am- 4pm. If you are looking for a job, submit your resume here

Respirators Donated to CHDK

Tidewater Staffing stepped forward last week after hearing the increased concern of medical facilities inability to get supplies of personal protective equipment. In efforts to do our part in helping to keep medical professionals and first responders on the frontlines of this crisis healthy and safe; Tidewater Staffing donated hundreds of N95 respirators to Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, VA. 

Precautions In Place 

Right now, there are no confirmed cases in our offices. Our focus is to create an environment that helps prevent employees from becoming sick. We continue to gather credible data and monitor any reported illness within our offices. Our Marketing Team is currently working on creating Online Courses for employees to get the training for work remotely. Additionally the following preventative measures recommended by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) have been put in place. We will add more as necessary to keep our employees safe and healthy. 

  • Active educational campaigns for hand washing

  • Encouraging forgoing handshaking or other customary greetings

  • Increased number of hand sanitizing stations

  • Frequent cleaning with sanitizer of all common/high traffic areas

  • Sanitize door handles and most often touched places frequently 

  • Continue to refer to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC) for guidance and additional measure

  • Practice “no touch drug screens” 

  • Suggest having orientations sit in every other seat and not directly next to each other 

  • Those employees that can work remotely are encouraged to stay home  

  • Limit class sizes to 10 (break up classes into two groups if needed and utilize all offices/spaces) 

  • Do as much via phone and electronically. All in office meeting is limited to essential job placement duties 

  • Stress that if anyone shows any signs of being sick they will be asked to leave and they will be rescheduled.  Let them know that the safety of all of our associates and staff is paramount
