Job Description

Tidewater Staffing is seeking experienced Pipe Welders for shipyard, industrial, and commercial projects throughout the Hampton Roads area. This position is responsible for welding carbon steel, stainless steel, and other piping systems while producing high-quality welds that meet customer specifications and industry standards.

The ideal candidate has experience in ship repair, new construction, industrial fabrication, or manufacturing environments and can successfully interpret blueprints, perform precision welding, and work safely in demanding industrial settings.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Set up, fit, and weld pipe using MIG, TIG, Stick (SMAW), Flux-Core (FCAW), or other required welding processes.
• Perform pipe fabrication, layout, and fit-up to required specifications.
• Produce quality welds that meet project requirements and applicable welding standards.
• Inspect completed welds and make repairs as needed.
• Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, torches, and welding equipment safely.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Follow OSHA regulations, shipyard safety procedures, and company policies.
• Work effectively with supervisors, pipefitters, shipfitters, and other skilled trades to meet production schedules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of pipe welding experience in shipyard, industrial, manufacturing, refinery, or commercial construction environments.
• Proficiency with one or more of the following welding processes:
  • GTAW (TIG)
  • SMAW (Stick)
  • GMAW (MIG)
  • FCAW (Flux-Core)
• Ability to read blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding specifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality workmanship.
• Ability to pass a company welding test, if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• AWS Welding Certifications
• ASME Welding Qualifications
• Shipyard or Navy repair experience
• Experience welding carbon steel, stainless steel, copper nickel, or aluminum pipe
• Current TWIC card is a plus

Physical Requirements

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stand, kneel, climb, crawl, and work in confined spaces or at heights.
• Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Wear required PPE and safely perform physically demanding work.
