Pay Range: $16 to $23 per hour

Description:

A Marine Brush & Roll Painter applies marine coatings using brushes and rollers to help protect and preserve ships, vessels, and marine structures. Responsibilities include applying primers, stripe coats, touch-up coatings, and complete coating systems in areas that cannot be effectively spray painted. This role also performs surface preparation using hand and power tools and assists with cleaning and preparing work areas to ensure high-quality coating applications.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping, and removing rust, old paint, and debris.
• Perform hand tool cleaning and power tool surface preparation using pneumatic and electric tools.
• Apply marine coatings, primers, stripe coats, and protective finishes using brushes and rollers.
• Mix paints and coatings according to manufacturer specifications and project requirements.
• Protect surrounding equipment and work areas by masking and covering surfaces as needed.
• Inspect completed work to ensure proper coverage, adhesion, and finish quality.
• Maintain painting tools, equipment, and a clean work area.
• Follow OSHA, client, and company safety procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Two or more years of marine, industrial, commercial, or shipyard painting experience preferred.
• Experience applying marine coatings with brushes and rollers.
• Knowledge of surface preparation techniques and coating application procedures.
• Familiarity with marine coatings, primers, and protective finishes preferred.
• Ability to read work instructions, coating specifications, and safety information.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions when required.
• Physically capable of standing, climbing, bending, lifting, and performing manual labor throughout the workday.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, and commitment to workplace safety.
