Fire Preventer

Pay Range: $15 to $22 per hour
Plus comprehensive benefits

Responsibilities:

• Monitor welding, cutting, grinding, and other hot work operations for fire hazards.
• Conduct fire watch inspections before, during, and after hot work activities.
• Identify, report, and help prevent unsafe conditions that could lead to fires or other safety incidents.
• Maintain fire extinguishers and other fire prevention equipment in designated work areas.
• Assist with hot work permits, fire watch documentation, and related safety paperwork as required.
• Communicate with supervisors, safety personnel, and crew members to maintain a safe work environment.
• Follow OSHA, client, and company safety procedures at all times.
• Remain alert throughout assigned fire watch activities and respond appropriately to emergency situations.

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous shipyard, industrial, construction, or fire watch experience preferred.
• Knowledge of hot work safety practices and fire prevention procedures.
• Familiarity with OSHA regulations and shipyard safety standards preferred.
• Experience with hot work permits, fire watch documentation, PAI processes, or related safety procedures is a plus.
• Ability to recognize fire hazards and take appropriate action within company procedures.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions when required.
• Physically capable of standing, walking, climbing, bending, and performing manual labor throughout the workday.
• Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to workplace safety.
