Marine Pipefitter Jobs – Hampton Roads, VA

Experienced Marine Pipefitters are needed to support shipyard operations across the Hampton Roads, Virginia area, including work on naval and commercial vessels.

This role involves the layout, fit-up, installation, and repair of piping systems aboard ships and submarines. Systems may include steam, hydraulic, compressed air, seawater, freshwater, power, and chilled water systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform layout, fit-up, and installation of marine piping systems
• Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering specifications
• Cut, thread, bend, and assemble pipe and fittings to required tolerances
• Install piping through bulkheads and decks, accounting for obstructions and vessel structure
• Conduct hydrostatic and pressure testing to ensure system integrity after installation or repair
• Verify alignment, measurements, and overall quality of completed work
• Support fabrication efforts, including use of jigs and fixtures to improve accuracy and production
• Collaborate with team members to complete assigned phases of shipyard projects

Qualifications

• Experience as a Marine Pipefitter, Shipyard Pipefitter, or Industrial Pipefitter
• Strong ability to read and work from blueprints and technical drawings
• Working knowledge of piping systems, materials, and installation methods
• Experience using pipefitting tools and shop equipment
• Familiarity with pressure testing and system validation procedures
• 6G welding experience preferred (not required for all positions)

Work Environment & Project Scope

Work may include new construction, repair, overhaul, and modernization projects within shipyard environments. Assignments may vary based on experience level, certifications, and current project needs across the Hampton Roads area.
