JOURNEYPERSON 3 (Inside Machinist, Valve Tech)
Should have knowledge of identifying, removal, repair all types of valves. Should have acquired valve specific tools.
They are required to read blueprints, tech manuals and other relative data and to read and use correctly precision measuring instruments.
They are required to be experienced in trouble shooting, disassembly, repair test and install valves with little supervision of the following type valves:
A. Fresh water valves and saltwater valves.
1. Clay valves
2. Gate valves
3. Globe valves
4. Check valve
B. All types of steam valves
1. Combination exhaust valves
2. All types of pressure seal valves
3. All types of in line valves
4. Gate valves
5. Globe valves
6. Needle valves
7. Check valves
8. Governor valves
9. Steam admission valves
Should have some knowledge of identifying, removal, repair, of valves with some supervision. Should have acquired basic hand tools.
They must have a good mechanical attitude.
They should have some knowledge of reading precision instruments.
Must have some experience in the following valves:
- Gate valves (fresh water & steam)
- Globe valves (fresh water & steam)
- Needle valves
- Butterfly valves
JOURNEYPERSON 1 (Inside Machinist, Valve Tech)
Should have some experience with valves and hand tools, and some knowledge of precision instruments (scale 6”, 12’ tape and use of micrometer)
All journeyperson 1 will need constant supervision.
All will be required to assist other inside valve machinist.
