Inside Machinist

Tidewater Staffing is seeking an Inside Machinist!

Pay Rate:

  • TBD
  • Weekly Pay
  • Shift to be discussed

Job duties include but not limited to:

  • Supervises and coordinates shop floor employees to facilitate production schedule
  • Assigns duties to workers to meet daily production needs
  • Interprets blueprints and sketches to determine that proper materials, fabrication, operations and sequence of operations are being accomplished
  • Trains workers in the proper use of machinery, tools, and equipment
  • Notifies the foreman of any discrepancies or problems that arise with material, machinery, equipment or employees
  • Observes employees, equipment, machinery and facilities to ensure that safety is being maintained at all times
  • Notifies the foreman of any safety concerns, or violations and of any required maintenance needed on equipment, machinery or facilities
  • Responsible for keeping work area, machines, and equipment safe, clean, and in good working order
  • Read and interpret blueprints to plan setup and operation of all types of machine shop machine tools
  • Use full range of precision measuring and gauge tools to perform inspection before start of job
  • Perform and oversee repair, rebuilding or overhaul work of manufacturing or service equipment from blueprints, company manufacturing manuals, written or verbal instructions
  • Ensure start up and shut down of equipment in line with company safety procedures for equipment under power and OSHA requirements.
  • Frequently work with other trades persons such as millwrights, electricians, pipefitters, etc.
  • Plan setup and operation of typical machine shop machine tools, producing parts to tolerances and company specifications
  • Use typical machinist hand tools
  • Set up and test production equipment under power, testing for mechanical difficulties, tracing to their sources and correcting problem

Requirements include:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of formal apprenticeship program or completion of in-company, two-year training program
  • Knowledge of working with power driven equipment
  • Close attention and care is required to prevent damage to complex machine tools
  • High mental and visual effort required
  • Must be able to communicate clearly, concisely and persuasively to customers, contractors and staff as they apply to bid specifications
  • Physical Requirements: Carrying, climbing, crawling, crouching, hearing, kneeling, lifting, pulling, sitting, standing, stooping, talking and walking
