Reports To: Paint Supervisor
SUMMARY
Assist the Brush and roll painters in Tanks, on the Hull, and on the freeboard with all T/U painting duties. Learning to properly use epoxies, enamels, and other coatings on steel surfaces.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Receives instruction from supervisor regarding paint requirements.
Assist with Cleaning and smoothing surfaces.
Assist with removing old paint to prepare surfaces for painting.
Assist with Painting the required area.
Assist with Transferring items to and from the work area.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Individuals must be 18 years of age.
EXPERIENCE
Individuals must be willing to learn in the Marine Painting Field.
SAFETY
Must be able to follow directions and understand safety requirements.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to carry a load of about 50 lbs. Climb stairways, vertical and inclined ladders. Crawl in tanks and voids. Kneeling, standing, sitting, crouching and stooping.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Shipyard environment involving working in cramped quarters, high places, hazardous conditions, loud noises, wearing specialized protective equipment, indoors or outdoors.
