Compensation: $17 – $27 an hour – Compensation is based on experience and skill level.
Job Type-Full-time

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Connecting all air and electrical systems associated with blast equipment, including
    breathing air (CO Monitor and filter cartridges)
  • Understand the various blast standards and can produce; SP-5, SP-6, SP-7, and SP-10
    cleaned surfaces to established regulatory standards
  • Has experience using various abrasives (Black Beauty, Garnet, Aluminum Oxide, and
    steel grit) and the equipment used for these processes
  • Has to experience blasting steel and aluminum substrates
  • Has experience on both exterior and interior surfaces of a vessel (Hull, Superstructure, Tank, Void)
  • Understand Confined Space entry requirements
  • Should own a proper blast hood and can demonstrate proper function and the equipment is in good order.
  • Limited positions available for non-certified individuals, however, must demonstrate knowledge of the elements enumerated above

Experience:
Must have three (3) or more years of experience in using high-pressure blast equipment.
Experience must include working in a physically demanding environment, confined spaces,
working at heights, and in the use of a blaster air-fed helmet and/or soft hood air-fed respirator
and a negative-pressure half-face respirator.

Certification:
Blasters shall be certified in accordance with SSPC-C-7, Refer to Systems & Specifications
Manual, Volume 2 (Steel Structures Painting Council) and Chapter 631-11.5 Shipyard Blasters
and Painters Certification. SSPC-C-7 is required per NAVSEA Standard Item 009-32.

Qualifications:
US work authorization (Required)
High school or equivalent (Preferred)
Shift – Day (nights may and can be required based on schedule and workload)
C-7 Certification (Preferred)

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in both offices and customer facilities, shipyards, and vessels.

Must be able to access all areas of shipyard and company property including shipyard and shipyard offices, dry docks, and terminals in all types of weather conditions. Use of safety equipment, such as a hard hat and safety glasses, and steel-toed shoes is required. Some overtime and on-call status are required and employees may be required to work more than the normal 40-hour week, including weekends. Regular and predictable attendance is required for this position.

Base Access: Must be able to obtain and maintain access to U.S Military bases and private shipyards for the performance of job duties.
